In my paintings, I'm compelled to tell, suggest, or imply a story. While it can cover a wide variety of subjects and situations, storytelling is the most basic and essential element of my work. I'm fascinated by the amount of information that one picture can hold in terms of character development, dramatic tension, mood, and plot. What I enjoy most is creating scenes which force the viewer to ask what has come before and to contemplate what will come next. I want to construct a frame work and then encourage the viewers creative mind to fill in the many blanks left to complete the story. What I love about this is the wide variety of interpretations and outcomes which can be reached. Instead of a still moment which can be appreciated just for its beauty or emotional tone, I want to create interactive paintings for stories which have not and will not be told until each individual viewer has told it to themselves.
